A Celebration For 2 Charities

After Matheus Pereira’s Summer move to a foreign club cut the fundraising short, the final total raised for the Albion Foundation and the Jeff Astle Foundation after the Auction of the original painting and sales of the Prints was a magnificent £3,500 – £1,750 each for the two charities.

After the  iconic image of Pereira’s celebration at the 3-2 win over Wolves at Molineux in January 2021 was recreated in an original oil painting by Artist Mark Ward and signed by Matheus Pereira (below) in order to be auctioned along with sales of the Limited Edition Prints to raise money for the Albion Foundation and Jeff Astle Foundation.

With the backing of the club and player, the painting was auctioned for Charity, raising £500 (thanks to the winning bidder Chris Pritchard, who’s daughter Hannah collected the painting pitch side at the home game against QPR) pics below, and the remaining £3,000 raised from the Print sales, with the money split equally between the Albion Foundation and the Jeff Astle Foundation.

All those who bought a print were automatically entered into a draw to win an original oil painting (below) of the King himself. And that winner was Amelia Dawson (top picture, far left) who also had a great night thanks to the club, to be presented with her painting, along with her dad.

Mark would like to take this opportunity to give a huge “thank you” the Club for their help, but also to all the fans who bid or bought a print to raise an amazing amount. We had an amazing night and great memories! (And a last gasp winner!)
